If you’re new to managing online orders, understanding the workflow can feel overwhelming. Smooth and efficient order processing is key to keeping your customers happy and building a successful e-commerce business. This guide walks you through the basics and offers tips to make the process straightforward.
Step-by-step order processing
Log in and view recent orders
Log in to the SimplePart Control Panel and click Recent Orders in the upper left corner of the dashboard. Newest orders appear at the top.-
Open order details
Click Order Details on the order you want to process. You’ll see:Customer shipping information
Order contents
Order total
Receive the order
Click Receive Order. This updates the order status and automatically emails the customer, letting them know their order is being processed.Verify the order
Check the fraud score and any order notes. Confirm that your DMS has the inventory to fulfill the order. Learn more about best practices for preventing fraud here.Capture payment
Click Capture Payment to process the customer’s payment. The payment authorization code and transaction ID will populate in Order Notes. Add any internal notes as needed.Print the order (optional)
Click Print Order for a detailed printout if you want a physical copy.Pack and ship
Pack the product securely. In Order Details, click Ship Order. This automatically sends an email to the customer confirming shipment or readiness for pickup.Communicate with customers
Use the Email Customer section to send updates about their order. You can also review the Email History to track previous messages.
