You can customize product information—such as descriptions, dimensions, and product visibility—directly from the Edit Product page in your Control Panel. This guide walks you through how to make updates and understand the difference between default and overridden values.
Accessing the Edit Product page
Log in to your SimplePart Control Panel.
At the top of the homepage, locate the Edit Product field.
Enter the part number of the product you want to update.
Click Go to open the Edit Product page.
You’ll now see all editable fields for that product, including description, visibility settings, and shipping dimensions.
Default Values vs. Overridden Values
On the Edit Product page, you’ll see two columns:
Default Values (left):
These are the system-generated database values for the product.Overridden Values (right):
This is where you enter any custom values you want displayed on your website.
Changes can only be made in the Overridden Values column.
Using the toggle
Each field includes a toggle between the two columns.
Switch the toggle on to enable an override. The toggle will turn blue.
Enter your custom value in the Overridden Values column.
Switch the toggle off (gray) to return to the default system value.
Don’t forget to click Save at the bottom of the page after making updates.
Editing product descriptions
To customize a product description:
Find the Product Description field.
Turn on the toggle (it will turn blue).
Enter your new custom description in the Overridden Values column.
Click Save.
Your update will appear on your website immediately.
Adjusting product dimensions
There are two areas related to dimensions:
Product Dimensions (system defaults)
Shipping Dimensions (customizable for your store)
To adjust shipping dimensions:
Turn the toggle on for the field you want to update.
Enter the correct measurements in the Overridden Values column.
Click Save.
If you want to revert to the original dimensions, switch the toggle off again.
Changing product images
Image changes cannot be made directly through the Control Panel at this time. If you need to upload or update a product image, our Support Team can assist you.
Have ready the part number and the image you’d like added.
Reviewing your updates
After saving your changes, visit your website to confirm your updates appear correctly on the product detail page.
