Setting fixed shipping rates

Some products in your catalog may require a fixed shipping rate. This is an additional cost applied to items that are considered oversized or overweight, which typically involve higher freight or special handling charges.

Where you’ll see the fixed shipping rate

The fixed rate appears alongside the item in your EPC or on the Product Detail page in the SimplePart Control Panel. During checkout, this rate will display separately from the standard shipping rate, so customers can clearly see any additional shipping costs for large or heavy items.

How to set fixed shipping rates

When your parts website goes live, your standard shipping rates are already implemented. These rates are based on the total parts value in your customer’s cart.

If certain items (for example, rotors or body panels) have a fixed shipping cost assigned, the standard rate will not apply to those specific items. However, if a cart contains both fixed-rate and standard-rate items, both rates will be combined at checkout.

A basic shipping rate tier system might look like this:

You can edit these shipping tiers as needed, as long as your Low and High values do not overlap. For example, if one tier covers $0.00–20.00, the next tier should start at $20.01–50.00. Overlapping ranges can prevent rates from calculating correctly.

To edit your shipping tiers:

1. Go to Settings > Shipping Rates.

2. Click Edit on respective tiers or add new tiers.

💡Tip: Not seeing any settings? Make sure to select your website in the drop down menu located at the top right of your Control Panel.
