You may receive a notification from Stripe recommending that you add IP address restrictions to your Stripe API key. This notice is related to a recent infrastructure update by SimplePart and is expected behavior.
This article explains what the notice means, whether you should take action, and how to proceed safely.
What is this Stripe notice?
Stripe allows you to restrict API keys so they only accept requests from approved IP addresses. This is an optional security feature that helps prevent unauthorized use of your API key.
Because SimplePart recently updated its outgoing IP addresses, Stripe may detect activity from new IPs and prompt you to confirm or update your allowed IP list.
Do I need to do this?
Yes, you will need to update your allowed IPs so SimplePart can continue to process payments on your behalf.
Why is SimplePart recommending this?
IP restrictions help protect your Stripe account by limiting where API requests can originate. Keeping this list up to date:
- Reduces the risk of unauthorized Stripe API usage
- Prevents payment interruptions after infrastructure changes
- Aligns with Stripe security best practices
How do I get the correct IPs?
For security reasons, SimplePart does not publish its Stripe-related IP addresses publicly.
To receive the correct IPs for your region and configuration, please contact SimplePart Support. We will provide the exact values to add.
How to add IP restrictions in Stripe
Once you have the IPs from SimplePart:
- Log in to your Stripe Dashboard
- Go to Developers → API keys
- Locate the Secret Key being used for SimplePart
- Click the ⋯ (three dots) next to that key
- Select Edit restrictions (or Manage restrictions)
- Under IP restrictions, choose:
- Limit use to a set of IP addresses
- Enter your allowed IP address(es)
- One per line
- Save the changes
