Stripe is a secure and flexible payment gateway that allows your dealership to accept credit and debit card payments directly on your SimplePart website. Follow the steps below to create your Stripe account and begin the integration process.
Step 1: Create your Stripe account
If you’re new to Stripe, start by creating your account:
👉 Create a Stripe account
If you already have an existing Stripe account, log in here and skip to Step 2:
👉 Log into your Stripe account
During account setup, Stripe will ask for the following information:
Legal business name and business type
Business address and phone number
Banking details for deposits and payouts
Personal information for the account representative (name, date of birth, and SSN or equivalent for verification)
A short description of your business and the products you sell
Stripe uses this information to verify your business and comply with financial regulations. Most accounts are reviewed and approved within minutes, though some may take longer depending on your financial institution or verification requirements.
Step 2: Enable live payments
Once your Stripe account has been created and verified, you’ll need to switch from Test mode to Live mode to start accepting real transactions.
To do this:
Log in to your Stripe Dashboard
Toggle the switch in the upper-left corner from Test mode to Live mode
Confirm that your banking and business details are correct
⚠️ Note: Stripe enforces a mandatory 7-day waiting period before your first payout. This is standard for new accounts and ensures compliance with banking regulations. You can learn more on the Stripe Support site.
Step 3: Connect Stripe to your SimplePart site
Once your account is fully set up and in Live mode, we need two pieces of information from you to connect your accounts:
Publishable API Key (already generated by Stripe)
Secret API Key (newly created)
How to retrieve your API keys
Log in to your Stripe account.
In the search bar, type API Keys.
-
On the Developer: API Keys page, click Create secret key.
⚠️ If prompted with an option to “build a new integration,” select it.
In the pop-up, give the key a name that identifies the integration (e.g.,
SimplePartDealerNameorSPDealerName).
Stripe will generate the Secret Key (displayed only once).
The Publishable Key is already visible on the same page.
How to share the keys with us
Do NOT send a screenshot – copy and paste the keys directly into your email reply.
If you cannot copy/paste, type the keys exactly as shown.
Send both keys to your Implementation specialist in an email.
From there, we’ll connect it to your SimplePart website and test the checkout process to ensure everything runs smoothly.
