Overview
Uber Direct is a white-label delivery service that lets your customers get parts and accessories delivered to them within a 20-mile radius of your store. When a customer selects Uber Direct at checkout, you'll see the order flagged in SimplePart's Orders section, and your parts team manually requests delivery through your Uber account.
💡 Note: This is currently in beta testing with a select number of Volkswagen USA dealers. If you're interested in this feature for your store, please contact our support team.
Before you begin
You need:
- An active Uber account set up for your dealership
- Admin or parts manager access to your SimplePart Control Panel
- Access to your Uber platform account to request deliveries
How Uber Direct works
- Customer places order — Customer selects Uber Direct as their delivery option at checkout and pays a flat delivery fee
- Order appears in SimplePart — The order shows in your Control Panel Orders section marked for Uber fulfillment
- Your team prepares the order — Parts team picks and packs the items as usual
- Delivery is requested — Your team logs into your Uber account and manually enters the shipping details to request courier pickup
- Courier delivers — Uber courier picks up the order and delivers it to the customer (or returns it to your store if the customer requests return-to-store)
Process orders with Uber Direct
Directions
- Log into your SimplePart Control Panel
- Go to the Orders section
- Identify orders marked for Uber Direct fulfillment
- Prepare the order for pickup (pick, pack, and stage as you normally would)
- Log into your Uber account separately (open Uber in another browser tab or window)
- In Uber Direct, manually enter the shipping details for the order
- Request delivery services through Uber
- Uber will assign a courier and provide you with tracking information
What to expect
- The order remains in your SimplePart Control Panel with Uber Direct status until the courier completes pickup
- You can monitor delivery progress through your Uber account
- The customer receives delivery confirmation and tracking details from Uber
- If a return-to-store is triggered, the courier will return the order to your location with proof of delivery instructions
Troubleshooting
Issue: The order doesn't show as Uber Direct in SimplePart
- Check that the customer selected Uber Direct at checkout. Some orders may default to other fulfillment methods if Uber Direct is not available for their location (outside the 20-mile radius).
Issue: I can't find the shipping details to enter in Uber
- SimplePart does not auto-populate Uber with customer addresses. You'll need to pull the shipping address from the customer's order in SimplePart and manually type it into Uber Direct. Have the order details open in one window and your Uber account in another.
Issue: The Uber courier didn't pick up the order
- Check your Uber account for any failed delivery requests or location issues. Contact Uber support directly for courier-related delays. You can also reach out to SimplePart support if you believe there's an order data issue.
