Offering Local Pickup gives nearby customers a convenient option to collect their parts in person, saving them shipping costs and helping you keep fulfillment efficient. When customers select Local Pickup during checkout or buy a Local Pickup-only product, the option appears alongside your standard shipping methods.
You can also add a handling fee to Local Pickup orders, allowing you to recover costs associated with preparing and processing these orders (such as packaging or staffing).
How to set a handling fee for Local Pickup
You’ll set up Local Pickup handling fees in the same place where you manage your shipping tiers in the Control Panel.
Go to your Control Panel, make sure your website is selected, and open the Shipping Rates page.
In the State dropdown, select Local Pickup.
-
Add your pricing tiers — just like you would for regular shipping rates.
-
Example:
$0–$100 → $10.95 handling fee
$100.01–$200 → $29.95 handling fee
$200.01+ → $39.95 handling fee
-
For each tier, enter the Low Price and High Price range, then type your desired Handling Fee under Shipping Cost.
Click Add New to save your changes.
Once saved, your handling fee will automatically apply whenever a customer selects Local Pickup at checkout or has a local pickup-only product in their cart.
💡 Tips & best practices
Keep your pricing tiers non-overlapping (for example, $0–$100, then $100.01–$200).
Review your pickup handling fees periodically to ensure they align with your operational costs.
If you offer promotions like free pickup, you can temporarily disable or adjust fees directly on the same page.
