If customers cannot complete payments on your PayPal-powered SimplePart store and you've received a PERMISSION_DENIED or 'Authorization failed due to insufficient permissions' error, this is a PayPal account issue that must be resolved directly with PayPal. This article explains what's happening and what to do.
What's causing the error
This error occurs inside PayPal's payment processing system — it is not caused by a problem with your SimplePart store. It typically means that the Advanced Card Processing feature on your PayPal Business account is not fully enabled or approved, which can happen if:
- Your PayPal account onboarding wasn't fully completed
- PayPal requires additional identity or business verification
- Your account status has changed
Steps to resolve
- Log in to your PayPal Business Dashboard at business.paypal.com.
- Check for any notifications, limitations, or action items. Complete any outstanding requirements.
- Verify that Advanced Card Processing is enabled and approved on your account. This capability may require additional review by PayPal.
- If you see no issues, or the error continues, contact PayPal Merchant Support. Ask them to review your account permissions for Advanced Card Processing.
- Once PayPal confirms your account is ready, let SimplePart support know and we'll verify the fix.
What SimplePart can and cannot do
SimplePart cannot resolve PayPal account permissions — these must be handled by PayPal directly. Once your PayPal account is configured correctly, payments will process as expected. We're happy to verify the connection on our end once PayPal confirms the issue is resolved.
