Essential shipping supplies

• Medium square boxes and long, skinny 6–8” boxes – These can be cut down to size to fit the items you’re shipping.

💡 Tip: As your order volume grows, check locally for smaller corrugated box suppliers — they often offer discounts.

• Tape and a tape gun dispenser – You’ll use these every day, so investing in high-quality supplies pays off.

• Clear invoice pouches – Protect your invoices from damage while keeping them readable for your customers.

• Package scale – A 70-lb range is sufficient for most parts and accessories.

💡 Tip: If you have a UPS or FedEx master account, you may be able to get a scale at a discounted price or even for free.

• Label printer – Many carriers offer discounts when purchased through UPS or FedEx accounts.

Tips for packaging

• Small flat-rate boxes – About 65% of packages can be shipped this way, making them cost-effective and easy to handle.

• Flat-rate Tyvek envelopes – Ideal for small items, these ship at a low, flat rate.

• Medium and large flat-rate boxes – Perfect for heavier items such as brake rotors and other bulky parts.

• Priority mail dual-use tubes (triangle boxes) – Great for long or irregularly shaped parts.

• Customs form envelopes – Keep these handy for international shipments; you may need them more often than expected.

💡 Tip: Notify your local post office once you start shipping with USPS — you’ll be able to request scheduled pickup times for added convenience.
