There may come a time when you need to take a break from online sales—whether that’s for a short maintenance period, a temporary business pause, or a full shutdown. SimplePart offers flexible options depending on your situation. Here’s how to choose what works best for you.
Temporarily pause sales
If you only need a short break—such as during staff vacations, inventory audits, or order fulfillment maintenance—you can temporarily pause your website’s ability to take new orders.
To start this process, reach out to Client Services. We’ll review your situation and walk you through the right steps based on your package level and dealer agreement.
Pros:
Keeps your website and data intact—no setup needed when you resume
Allows you to maintain SEO ranking and customer visibility
Ideal for short-term breaks or operational pauses
Cons:
Monthly billing continues during the pause
Your customers can’t place orders while the site is paused
When to choose this option:
You’re taking a temporary break but plan to resume online sales soon (for example, after system maintenance or a short closure period).
Permanently close your store
If you’ve decided to stop selling parts online indefinitely, you can request a full deactivation of your store. This option removes your site from public access and ends your eCommerce operations.
Deactivation requests must be submitted in writing, as outlined in your dealer agreement.
Pros:
Stops all billing after the deactivation is complete
Prevents customers from placing new orders or accessing your site
Appropriate for long-term or permanent shutdowns
Cons:
Your website, order history, and SEO footprint will no longer be active
Relaunching later will require a new setup process
When to choose this option:
You’re shutting down operations, switching platforms, or no longer offering online parts sales.
Re-launching your store
If you paused or deactivated your store but are ready to start selling again, you can reach out to the sales team to re-enable your site.
After reactivation, expect to see your normal traffic levels return within 2–4 weeks as search engines recrawl your website and customers rediscover your store.
Pros:
Quick path to getting back online
Retains prior store settings and structure (if paused rather than fully deactivated)
Cons:
Traffic may take time to rebuild after a long pause
Requires coordination with SimplePart to re-enable features and marketing
When to choose this option:
You’re ready to return to online sales after a temporary or extended pause and want to regain your previous market momentum.
